Innovation Awards 2006
The 3rd Macquarie University Innovation Awards were presented to winners at a special awards dinner held on campus on 29th November 2006.
The awards consist of a trophy plus a cash prize. The trophy is a unique bronze sculpture specially created for the Awards by renowned sculptor Linda Klarfeld. Each winner receives a cash prize of $2,000 for an individual winner and $3,000 for a team. The prize can be taken as a non-taxable cash payment or paid into a research account.
The Judges have asked that all applicants be congratulated on the high quality of their submissions.
The winners were:
INNOVATION IN RESEARCH AWARD
Time-gated luminescence fluorophores and instrumentation - Dr Russell Connally, Mr Dayong Jin, Dr Peter Dekker, Hamish Ogilvy and John Funnell.
INVENTION DISCLOSURE AWARD
Low-cost, portable and accurate flow cytometer - Mr Dayong Jin and Dr Russell Connally.
POSTGRADUATE INNOVATION AWARD
Time-gated luminescence flow cytometer - Mr Dayong Jin, Dr Russell Connally and Professor Jim Piper.
INNOVATIVE PARTNERSHIP AWARD
Best practice HR benchmarks for not-for-profit sector - Dr Peter Langford, Dr Louise Parkes, Ms Louise Metcalfe, Ms Sarah Locke, Ms Victoria Smith, Mr Nick Vrisakis, Mr Frank Basile (Macquarie University) and partner institutions and representatives.
COMMERCIAL INNOVATION AWARD
