INOV804 Technology-Based Entrepreneurship
This unit is not presently being offered by Macquarie University.
----------
Description
In an age of rapid change, new technologies are daily transforming how we live, work, play, and learn. Enterprises that pioneered such technologies – firms like Google, Microsoft, Intel, or Amgen – have become iconic figures.
INOV804 looks at how new knowledge-intensive ventures are created – recognizing
that these ventures are important creators of wealth, knowledge, jobs, and social
change. The unit focuses on the key processes involved in identifying
and developing business ideas from new technologies.
In doing so, INOV804 provides an insight into intellectual property, commercialisation
skills, management of innovation, product development, marketing, and financing.
The unit is structured around the process of business plan development – with
students working in groups to prepare, present, and execute the
initial stages of the business plan.
In the context of this unit, the term technology is relevant
across a range of applied academic disciplines.
